Powered by the 5V/500mA standard USB interface (some high-power models require an external power supply), these cameras are compatible with major operating systems such as Windows, Linux, and macOS. Developers can quickly access these cameras through common driver frameworks such as DirectShow and libusb.

 

In terms of application scenarios, these cameras are commonly used for surface defect detection (such as identifying flaws in electronic components), image acquisition for biological microscopes, remote teaching demonstrations, and home surveillance due to their flexible deployment and easy maintenance. Despite the increasing popularity of USB 3.0 and higher standards, USB 2.0 cameras still hold a significant position in applications where real-time performance is less critical, thanks to their mature technology ecosystem and cost-effectiveness.

 

In the future, with advances in sensor technology and low-power optimization, USB 2.0 cameras are expected to continue to evolve in specific market segments, providing users with reliable and cost-effective vision solutions.
